ma&ma changes

I’ve been quiet for over a month — I was on vacation in Czechia with family and friends. It was lovely to be back for a while, but now we’re slowly getting back into the rhythm of things here. ⭐️

🇨🇿 We’re moving back to Czechia 😱

After a lot of thinking, we decided to move back in December.

Living in Norway has been beautiful in many ways, and I’ve really grown to love the nature and culture here. But moving here with small kids just wasn’t the smartest idea. We didn’t realise how hard it would be without family and friends nearby.

🧵 What happens to ma&ma?

Thanks to your support, this little handmade brand has grown within a bit over a year into something I never expected. And of course, I’m not planning to stop.

I know some of you support ma&ma because it’s a local small business — and that part will change. But many of you are here because of the designs, the pieces themselves, and the values behind them.

For you: I’m continuing. From Czechia.

And starting in 2026, I’ll offer international shipping 🛫

🏡 ma&ma is getting its own little boutique

Next year, ma&ma will finally have a real home — a small boutique where I can keep stock, sew in peace, and ship faster 📦🧺

✂️ So what now?

Right now, my focus is to use up all the fabrics I have at home before the move.

- I´ll sew your favorite pieces in the most common sizes
- When there’s enough, I’ll open a Nightshopping event with good prices 🌛🧡

- Then I’ll begin creating a base collection that will travel with me and become the new foundation for ma&ma in 2026

📦 What about Norway?

Running ma&ma here is very expensive. Importing fabrics and materials costs a lot, and the tax system isn’t exactly gentle to small handmade brands 🥴

In Czechia, it’ll be easier and cheaper to get what I need — and I’ll be able to manage orders much more efficiently. I’ll also register for toll in Norway, so even though the pieces will be sent from abroad, you won’t end up paying more than now. The toll will be included in the price, and shipping will be faster and smoother.

Emails are great for bigger updates, but they’re hard to keep track of. That’s why I created a new Instagram channel: ma&ma 🪁 Mini Market 🧺.

I’ll use it to post what I’m doing right now, what’s ready, and what’s coming. No more guessing if something’s happening or not 🧵🔍

👗 One more thing...

With the new space, I’ll finally start something I’ve been wanting to do for years — sewing for ma&mas too.

I want to create more than just oversized functional pieces for kids. I want to make beautiful dresses and pieces you’ll want to wear again and again.
Something to feel good in 🌸

🌿 And the name?

The "&" in ma&ma was always meant to stand for me and my sister, Bara. She was supposed to be part of this from the beginning. Life had other plans — but now she’ll be helping again when we move back.

And the domain? I’m keeping maama.no for now. That “.no” holds a lot of memories and it feels right to let it stay — at least for now 🕊️
